According to the ever-so-handy Wikipedia, the holiday originated in 1882 as the Central Labor Union (of New York City) sought to create "a day off for the working citizens".
It is celebrated these days as a day of rest and that is exactly what my hubbie and I did today. The boys stayed the night with Mimi and Papa so we were able to sleep in and take today easy.
As Tony the Tiger would say "It was Ggrrreeeat!!!!"
After lunch we picked up the boys and had a nice, full-filling day.
We live close by to a park so as the sun got closer to the horizon we headed that way with our picnic gear. Our 'lil friend, Miss E, just so happen to be there as well.
Below are a couple shots I snapped there.
Mimi and Papa live along the coastline of Louisiana and Mississippi. They had to evacuate due to Hurricane Gustav so they are here in the Dallas area for awhile. Hopefully their home will be all in one piece when they return. Fingers crossed!
Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved.
Until next time,
Terrah
